bombdisposalperownewayVIDEO EXCLUSIVE: A Royal Navy Bomb disposal team are this afternoon on the scene of a suspicious device found in the garden of a property in Sandown.

Police and explosive experts are investigating a device found in the rear garden of a terraced house in Perowne Way.

The object, suspected to be an explosive, is currently being X-rayed to determine the nature of what teams are working with. Residents have not been evacuated from the area and the road remains open.

Island Echo understand that the device is suspected to be linked to recent spate of explosions in the local area, of which a teenager was charged.

bombdisposalperowneway3UPDATE : 19:45 – A controlled explosion has this evening been carried out on Yaverland Beach, Sandown by Royal Navy Bomb Disposal experts, who removed the suspicious device from the garden of which it was discovered in at a house in Perowne Way.

Emergency services were alerted to the device after an elderly lady discovered the object while gardening this afternoon.
