Around 2.5 metres of the land has been lost at Lake Cliff Gardens between Sandown and Shanklin with railings, wooden supports and the cliff top path falling to the revetment below.
The initial fall occurred on Saturday morning, as previously reported by Island Echo.
Walkers have been witnessed to be ignoring the closure on the path between YMCA Winchester House and the public gardens beside the A3055 Sandown Road, even though the cliff is continuing to fall, with around 1.5 metres falling today alone.
With this in mind, extra fencing have been put in place by HSS Hire Isle of Wight to prevent members of the public putting themselves at risk with the closure extended by 5mx9m.
The public are reminded that cliff edges can be dangerous and are urged to take extra caution when walking in the area or other coastal routes which could be prone to land slips.
