An investigation is underway after a group of up to 10 youths assaulted a lone carnival spectator at last night’s Ventnor Illuminated Carnival, in what appears to be an unprovoked attack.
The incident, which occurred at around 21:40 in Marlbrough Road, resulted in one HSS Hire traffic management operative being physically assaulted after two of the company’s operatives intervened to save a gentleman who was being attacked by the large group.
Witnesses at the scene say the man appeared to do nothing to provoke such a violent outburst by the youngsters.
One male has been arrested by Police.
