POLICE on the Island are appealing for any witnesses after a fight broke out on Saturday afternoon in Newport.

Two men were arrested after officers were called to a punch up at Newport Bus Station shortly after 15:00 on Saturday.

A 44-year-old man from Freshwater and a 43-year-old man from Newport were both arrested on suspicion of affray. They were questioned and later bailed until July 10, 2012.

Both men suffered face and hand injuries as a result of the scrap.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Newport police station by phoning 101.  Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
