A 67-year-old local man has been bailed by Police pending further enquiries in relation to a spate of tyre slashing on the Carisbrooke estate earlier this year, which has cost several motorists thousands of pounds.
As previously reported by Island Echo, vehicles parked in Kinchington Road, Nightingale Road, Westmill Street, Mountbatten Drive, Hinton Road, The Finches, Wellington Road and Purdy Road in Carisbrooke were targeted over an extended period of time, which led to Police conducting nighttime searches of the area and house to house enquiries.
A spotter plane was tasked to circle the area on one or two occasions, which deterred the criminal for a short period of time before the attacks started again. In total over 40 cars were damaged, some of which were targeted multiple times.
Hampshire Constabulary have now confirmed that a 67-year-old man from Newport has been arrested, questioned and bailed until mid September. It is not known whether it is the same man arrested back in May and bailed until July.
