Red Funnel has marked the sale of its 5 millionth booking with a surprise for one of its customers.
Barbara Mercer from Totton was the 5 millionth customer to book a trip with the ferry operator since it started using its current booking system in 2007 and the company celebrated the milestone by surprising her with free travel and special gifts.
Red Funnel presented Barbara with flowers and a bottle of Champagne when she returned home from a week’s holiday on the island with her friend Jane, and refunded the cost of their ferry transport.
Barbara said:
“We visit the Island every year and always travel with Red Funnel so it was such a nice surprise to hear from them. I never win anything, so I’m feeling very lucky!
“It’s lovely to be able to travel with the dogs and enjoy the Island’s fantastic beaches. There’s so much to do on the Island, and it makes a big difference knowing they’re welcome on the ferry too”
Barbara and Jane visited the Island with their dogs, Winston and Misty, and stayed near Thorness Bay.
Jonathan Green, sales and marketing director for Red Funnel, said:
“We were delighted to be able to present Barbara with free travel and some gifts to mark this milestone. Five million bookings in seven years is a fantastic achievement, and we’re already looking forward to celebrating ten million.”
The celebration comes after Red Funnel took part in National Customer Service Week earlier in the month, and took managers ‘back to the floor’ to speak to customers and find out about their experiences. The insights they gained were taken back to the boardroom to help develop future products and services.
