Ventnor Cricket Club’s first and second teams suffered 2 heavy defeats in their opening League games on Saturday.
In the British Gas Southern Premier League Division 1, the Islanders were chasing a large Basingstoke total of 307-7, but fell well short as they were dismissed for 154. Rob Snell (32) and Martin Blackman (33) top scoring. 14-year-old Zeph Wells impressed on his Southern League debut with 3-59.
Lymington II racked up 368-4 and ran out comprehensive winners against Ventnor II who manged only 104 in the Hampshire League Division 1 fixture at the Sports Ground.
At Steephill, a fine knock of 120 from Neil Westhorpe led Ventnor III to 248-4 and an 89 victory against Burridge III in Hampshire League Regional Division 2 South East. Simon Weedon took 4-35 for the home side.
