VENTNOR BOXING DAY SWIM CANCELLED AFTER MORE THAN 35 YEARS

Ventnor’s traditional Boxing Day swim has been cancelled after more than 35 years due to a lack of support, organisers have today (Monday) announced.

Each Christmas thousands of people gather at Ventnor Esplanade to see a crowd of brave fundraisers race into the freezing cold sea. But organisers People’s Approach to Cancer Help (PATCH) have said that a lack of support from previous participants and businesses in the town has led to the event being scrapped.

Last year just 11 sponsorship forms were returned from the 300 people that took part.
