A collaboration of 3 coaching and training companies (Coralesce, Altered Dawn and Symmetry Coaching) are celebrating after securing sustainable transport funding from the Isle of Wight Council.
The funding award follows the launch of the Active Travel Innovation Grant Fund in July 2017, when the council put out the call for organisations and businesses to submit applications for funding to deliver innovative active travel projects.
Christina Conroy OBE, Director at Coralesce Ltd said:
“We have set up a new partnership organisation, Walk with Purpose (www.walkwithpurpose.org.uk) which will be organising individual and group ‘led’ walks facilitated by a personal coach focused on life change themes such as career development, bereavement, divorce, redundancy, retirement and starting a business. The aim is to organise ‘led’ coaching walks for visitors and residents including apprentices and young people.
“Research has shown that walking promotes new connections between brain cells and stimulates creativity, greater focus and well-being.
“The purpose is to encourage reflection and to develop fruitful coaching conversations that support the participant in making the changes that they want to make. Walking provides wellbeing and can help people to think more deeply in a relaxed way.
“With the challenge and support of a trained Coach walking alongside, people can address their challenges in a focused way and at their own pace.”
Walk with Purpose will be offering a range of walks across the Island including weekly themed group walks from start locations such as the Seaview Hotel, Westbay Club and the Garlic Farm, as well as longer individual 1-to-1 walks which includes online check-in and review meetings.
The service will be launched at an event at The Garlic Farm, Newchurch on 15th November 2017 where there will be the opportunity to have a themed short walk around the Garlic Farm by the owner, Colin Boswell and a presentation on the psychology of walking and mindfulness from Madeline Paterson from Symmetry Coaching.
