VIDEO & PHOTO GALLERY: Thousands of scooterists from across the country enjoyed a weekend of hot and sunny weather on the Island during the annual Isle of Wight Scooter Rally.

The first visitors arrived on the roads on Thursday, but those few soon turned into hundreds and then thousands in what is always a much-welcomed boost to the local economy.

The event, which has been running since the 1980’s and draws to a close for 2017 today (Monday), has provided entertainment for all and saw the seaside town of Ryde becoming a hive of activity, especially on Saturday night.

Bank Holiday weekend fun accumulated with the traditional Sunday lunchtime ride out from Ryde Esplanade which, as always, was enjoyed by large crowds of spectators.

A 15-minute long procession of scooters of all shapes, colours and sizes left Superbowl, Ryde at 13:00 yesterday afternoon and made its way through St Helens, Bembridge and Sandown before heading back to the rally’s campsite at Smallbrook Stadium. The ride out was led by 2 youngsters in memory of baby Maddox, who died 10 years ago.
