UPDATED: Hovertravel services have been cancelled this morning (Thursday) due to the adverse weather conditions on the Solent.

Gusts of around 50mph are currently hitting the Island, forcing the Ryde to Southsea route to be halted for the time being.

Red Jet services between Cowes and Southampton were suspended earlier on but have since resumed operations to a normal timetable.

The weather is all part of Storm Caroline, which will see snow fall on several parts of the country over the next 24-48 hours. Whilst the Isle of Wight is set to avoid any disruption, the odd snow shower may be experienced.

UPDATE @ 11:53 – Hovertravel services have now resumed.

The next service is at 12:15 from Ryde and 12:30 from Southsea.
