Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club is seeking support from the Aviva Community Fund to purchase some new rowing blades for the club’s expanding membership.

In recent months the Esplanade-based club has experienced an increasing number of rowers of all ages and as a result new oars are required to enable members to continue to do well against mainland clubs in regattas.

Olympic gold medal winner Louis Attrill began his rowing career at Shanklin Sandowne and just this year Daisy and Emily Faithfull were the Junior Ladies Pairs champions, with Daisy also being Junior Ladies Sculls champion.

Islanders are being asked to support the club by casting a vote on the Aviva Community Fund website. Voting closes on Wednesday 22nd November.

You can vote for Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club at https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/project/view/17-3602.
