SANDOWN LIFEBOAT AIDS VESSEL WITH ELECTRICAL FAILURE

565

Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat (SSILB) launched to the aid of a 25ft motor vessel suffering from complete electrical failure 3 miles off Sandown this morning (Thursday).

Solent Coastguard paged the independent lifeboat at 10:38 following reports from ‘Pretty Compensation 3’ – with 3 persons on board – that the vessel had lost power and was drifting.

The volunteer crew of SSILB managed to speak to the skipper using a mobile phone and quickly identified his position.

A survey of the casualty boat revealed that an engine fuse had blown. After replacing the fuse, Sandown Lifeboat escorted Pretty Compensation 3 back to the Solent.
