The Isle of Wight Radio Society is hosting a talk about Pirate Radio on Friday 15th December at Haylands Farm, Ryde.
Ex-Pirate radio presenter Mark will describe some personal experiences, assisted by his adversary Roger, formerly a senior manager for the authorities hunting them down.
Pirate radio is most often associated with Radio Caroline and other offshore ships transmitting on the medium wave, but there were also numerous smaller FM transmitters catering for niche audiences in most major cities.
Entry to the talk is free although a small donation will be appreciated. Doors open 19:00 for a 20:00 start.
The Isle of Wight Radio Society exists for anyone interested in Radio Communications in any form, commercial or amateur and meets regularly on a Friday night. More information can be found at http://www.radioclubs.net/iwrs/.
