PERSON STUCK ON REMOTE DOWNLAND NEAR WROXALL

UPDATED: Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 175, Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are all responding to reports of a female stuck on a steep slope near Wroxall this afternoon (Friday).

The Coastguard helicopter, which is currently circling in the skies between Wroxall and Cowleaze Hill, has been called in to winch the female to safety due to her remote location near St Boniface Down.

Paramedics are on scene alongside Coastguard Rescue Officers but the area is inaccessible by land ambulance, according to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

Emergency services were alerted to the woman’s plight at around 16:00.

UPDATE @ 17:15 – The casualty has been successfully airlifted from the Downs and has been flown directly to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.

The incident has been brought to a close.
