PEDESTRIAN INJURED IN LAKE COLLISION

UPDATED: Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision at Lake High Street tonight (Saturday) in which a pedestrian has been knocked over.

The main road between Sandown and Shanklin has been closed by Police as paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service attend to the casualty outside Lake Fishbar. They were called to the scene at just gone 20:30.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

UPDATE @ 21:18 – Lake High Street has reopened to traffic in both directions.

The male casualty has been rushed to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance after stumbling into the path of an oncoming vehicle. He is said to have escaped any serious injury but is to be kept in hospital for observation.

Southern Vectis buses are delayed as a result of the incident.
