Brading Roman Villa is hosting a private session at the villa today (Friday) for clients of the Isle of Wight Society for the Blind (IWSB).
Villa staff will be escorting the visually impaired guests around the historic site and afterwards, they will be able to handle some of the Museum artefacts.
CEO of IWSB, Estelle Thomas said:
“When so many museums insist exhibits must not be handled, this is such a refreshing change. Often tactile examination of artefacts is the only way that most of our client group can ever discover the shape and size of exhibits.
“IWSB has worked collaboratively with the Villa staff in the past. This latest venture is proof that it is a lasting partnership not a tick box exercise.
“Spencer Brown, the Museums Education Officer has been most helpful and we cannot thank him enough”.
