The directory is hosted on the council’s main website and lists numerous clubs in a range of sports across the Island. It provides clubs with a free resource where they can list their contact details, website address and if they are part of a national body or have received any accreditation. Members of the public interested in joining any club can log on to the page to get relevant information.
To list your club details, simply log on to www.iwight.com/sportsdirectory and fill out the submission form which is via the link on the page.
Clubs that already have a listing are also being asked to check that their details are correct and if not, to update them by submitting a new form.
Alex Minns the council’s recreation and leisure manager and said:
“The council’s website is a very well visited site and the club directory is a very good opportunity for sports clubs across the Island to list their details for free. If any club is not listed, we recommend you do so as it only takes a few minutes and will remain on there.
“We have also noticed some listings may be out of date and therefore we are asking all existing clubs that are listed to check their details. If they are out of date or need amending, please send in an updated submission form via the link on the page.”
The council’s sports unit has also recently launched its own Facebook page where it provides latest news, information, local sporting activities and details of how to apply for grants. The Facebook page can be found at www.facebook.com/iwsportsunit and local clubs on Facebook are recommended to like the page to receive updates.
Sports clubs can also send press releases/match reports to Island Echo for inclusion on the website by emailing email@example.com.
