The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary will be holding it’s Autumn fundraising event, A Day at the Races, on Sunday (17th September).

The annual event is a chance for the charity to raise much needed funds to buy winter feed for the animals. It is a family day with traditional races for children and parents alike.

Visitors can expect hobby horse show jumping for children; a dog dash and ‘Suppertime Stakes’, when guesses are made on which donkey will make it back to the barn first.

There are stalls and entertainment throughout the day.

Derek Needham of the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary has said:

“Events such as these not only help us feed and look after the welfare of our animal, but help us continue our work in the local community visiting schools, residential homes, Alzeimers centres and other organizations who find our animals helpful or therapeutic”.

Entry and parking is free.
