59-year-old Susan Hurwood has been banned from driving for 26 months after crashing her car whilst almost 3 times the drink-drive limit.

Hurwood, of Grove Road, Sandown, collided with the front of a residential property on Wilkes Road in the town on 22nd July. Luckily, the sporty convertible did not plough into the building at speed meaning both the driver and occupant of the property escaped injury.

Police charged the St Mary’s Hospital receptionist after she blew 102 on the evidential breathalyzer – the legal limit is 35.

The Isle of Wight Magistrates Court sentenced Hurwood to 200 hours unpaid community service and ordered her to pay £85 in costs with a £85 surcharge. She has been banned from driving for 26 months.
