For the first time on the Isle of Wight, Island resident and screen icon Jennie Linden will be talking about her fascinating career on stage, film and television that spanned 4 decades.

Jennie is best known for her leading role with Glenda Jackson, Oliver Reed and Alan Bates in Ken Russell’s Women in Love, for which she was BAFTA-nominated. She also starred with Peter Cushing in Dr Who and the Daleks and with Richard Attenborough in A Severed Head, and was the lead role in the Hammer horror Nightmare.

On television, Jennie was a regular lead in much-loved series including The Saint, The Avengers, The Persuaders, Lillie, Tales of the Unexpected, Chancer, Lovejoy and Casualty, playing opposite well-known actors such as Roger Moore, Patrick Macnee, Tony Curtis, Francesca Annis, Leslie Phillips and Ian McShane.

Jennie was frequently top of the bill on the West End stage. She toured the world with Patrick Stewart, Timothy West and Glenda Jackson in the RSC production of Hedda, directed by Trevor Nunn, and starred opposite Kenneth Williams in his last ever theatre role.

Jennie will be discussing the highs and lows of a career in acting with local radio presenter James Vaux, with illustrations from favourite productions. There’ll be some amazing insights and revelations, including how to respond to room service from Daleks, Roger Moore’s sunbathing tips, how Jennie premiered Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats years before it hit the stage…and why Rudolf Nureyev made the tea-lady blush.

Tickets are £5 each and must be pre-booked as they are disappearing fast. The talk will be in the Stern Room of The Spinnaker,  Steyne Road, Bembridge on Sunday 22nd January 2017. Doors will open at 14:30 with the talk starting at 15:00. Refreshments will be available afterwards.
