Police investigating the beheading of a cat in Southsea over the Bank Holiday weekend are linking the incident to a similar killing on the Isle of Wight last year.
Hampshire Constabulary were earlier this week alerted to the discovery of a beheaded cat, which came about its death sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning.
Officers have today (Thursday) confirmed that the incident is being linked to 2 other occurrences in the force area, including an incident on 23rd July 2016 in Avenue Road, Sandown.
A Metropolitan Police investigation named ‘Op Takahe’ remains open, looking into a series of cat deaths in the Croydon/M25 area.
Sergeant Tony Jeacock has said:
“I would like to reassure the public that we are investigating the incident and following all possible leads.
“I would encourage anyone who is aware of any other cats that have been killed, to call 101”
