CAR LEAVES CARRIAGEWAY ON SHORWELL OUTSKIRTS

shorwellrtcmapUPDATED: Emergency services are this afternoon responding to a road traffic collision on the outskirts of Shorwell.

Island Echo understands a currently unknown vehicle has left the carriageway and come to rest in a hedge near to Westcourt Farm on the B3399 Walker’s Lane between Shorwell and Limerstone.

Two appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance alongside several Police units and two ambulance crews from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

It is thought that no one has been seriously injured in the collision, which occurred at 16:00.

UPDATE @ 16:28 - Initial reports are suggesting that the low-level sunset is to blame for the incident, which is not as serious as first feared.

No one has been injured in the incident and one ambulance crew have now left the scene.

UPDATE @ 18:17 - The vehicle was recovered and the scene was cleared just after 17:30.

An elderly woman is understood to have been driving the vehicle involved.
