The popular bird hide at Alverstone Nature Reserve has been closed with immediate effect to allow for essential repairs to the structure to be carried out.
The wardens that look after the the hide closed it to the public yesterday, as supports underneath the wooden structure need to be repaired as a matter of urgency. Safety rails also need replacing.
A notice reads:
“We are sorry for any disappointment caused but following professional advice the hide will be closed to the public until essential repairs to the structure have been carried out”
It is hoped that the repairs will be carried out as soon as possible, allowing the hide to reopen to the bird watchers and photographers that often frequent the area.
