Newport Youth Under 14s football team celebrated their season successes and individual players were recognised at a special awards night at the Bargman’s Rest on Saturday (1st July).
The main awards winners of the night included Brad Thompson (Golden Boot); Ryan Hughes (Player’s Player); Ryan Hughes and Jail Holton (Supporter’s Players); Ben Snow (Manager’s Player); Asthon Moss-Simmonds and Jack Turner (Most Improved Players) and Graham Snow (Chairman’s Award).
Individual trophies were also awarded for winning the local league and medals for winning the Sports Tours Easter Tournament,
On display at The Bargeman’s on Saturday was the League Trophy, The Island Cup, The Sports Tours Easter Tournament Trophy and the ESF Festival of Football Tournament Trophy.
This weekend sees the team travel to St Georges Park in Burton – the home of the FA – to participate in ESF festival Grand Finale Champion of Champions event, which they qualified for by winning their heat at Butlins Bognor Regis.
Newport are drawn in Group 1, along side Port Tennant Colts (Swansea), Castle Park Youth (Sunderland) and Lane Head Chargers (West Midlands). The top team from each group will play off in the final to be crowned ESF champions 2017.
