Newport IW Football Club’s Under 14s team have been crowned champions of a national tournament, by winning the Grand Finale ‘Champion of Champions’ event in Burton-upon-Trent.

The Island side played 3 games in their allocated group, taking victory in each and every one.

Jaik Holton and Zak Sullivan scored 2 goals to take victory against Port Tennant Colts, before Ben Snow, Aidan Sheerin, Jake Wright and Jack Turner scored a total of 4 scores against Lane Head Chargers. It was Izaac Kent who scores the only goal in the final group match against Castle Park. a

With a run of unbeaten games, the pressure was on to beat AFC Rushden and Diamonds in the final. With just 3 minutes left of the match Zak Sullivan scored a free kick, taking a 1-0 victory over the Northampton side.

Team Manager Stuart Simmonds is said to be delighted for everyone connected to Newport Under 14s.
