MAN ‘STABBED’ IN BROAD DAYLIGHT IN SHANKLIN

UPDATED: Doctors from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance have landed in Shanklin tonight (Saturday) following the apparent stabbing of a man on a residential street in the town.

Police have erected a cordon at the junction of St Paul’s Avenue and Spring Gardens following the alleged assault, which has left a man with serious injuries.

The casualty is said to have been found on the roadside shortly before 20:00.

The air ambulance has landed in Green Lane Recreation Ground, where it appears the casualty is being stablised by the HEMS team prior to being airlifted to a mainland hospital.

UPDATE @ 23:00 – A crime scene remains in place on Spring Gardens tonight as officers investigate the circumstances of the alleged assault.

It is unknown at this stage if any arrests have been made in connection with the incident, however it is known an address on nearby North Road has been visited by Police.

An update on the casualty’s condition is currently not available. Sources say he is stable and has been flown to Southampton General Hospital.
