A man has been led to safety by Coastguard officers in a remote part of the South Wight this evening (Wednesday).

Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team (CRT) were tasked to the area of Castlehavan near St Catherine’s Point by Solent Coastguard at around 16:20. Upon arrival the team discovered a man stuck on a gradual sloping cliff on the other side of Reeth Bay.

5 Coastguard officers have clambered over the large rocks to reach the casualty and have now led him back to the safety of firm ground. It’s unclear how the man managed to get into the predicament in the most Southerly spot.

The man has escaped any injury and Ventnor CRT are now standing down from the incident.
