Wightlink Wight Mountain Cycle Race Team rider Adam Holleyman travelled up to Hillingdon in Greater London on Saturday (16th September) to race the Elite, 1st and 2nd category circuit race.
The race started fast with many riders attacking to break up the field. After riding to his limit to mark all of the attacks, Adam found himself in the front group of 6 once the race had split. Working well together the 6 riders increased the gap to the chasing main peloton behind. The group continued to work well together through rain showers and strong wind, eventually lapping the rest of the race at an average speed of 27mph.
In the last lap, 1 of the 6 men in front tried to sprint early to catch the others off guard, Adam chased him down and then sprinted for the line himself eventually finishing in 4th place.
Adam gained enough points to retain his 2nd cat licence for 2018 and will be looking forward to more road racing with the Wightlink Wight Mountain Cycle Race team next year.
