Nights out on the town are about to change forever as the Isle of Wight looks set to say goodbye to Yates and hello to Walkabout.

Stonegate Pub Company, which operates both the Yates and Walkabout brands, have applied to the Isle of Wight Council to convert the pub into 1 of just 24 Walkabout bars in the country.

Yates opened in 2003 and has been a big part of nights out in Newport ever since – that was until Fever & Boutique opened just a few months ago.

Walkabout bars are described as being Australian themed with the best seats for watching sport.

Should planning permission be approved, the building is expected to have a full refurbishment and re-open with a new Aussie food and drink offering.
