UPDATED: Fire crews are attending a garden fire at a property on the corner of Ashey Road and Upton Road in Ryde this afternoon (Monday). 

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to the address at just before 13:10, mobilising 2 appliances from Ryde.

Ashey Road has been closed in both directions as firefighters tackle the blaze.

UPDATE @ 13:40 – The fire, which has destroyed a shed and fence, has been brought under control using 2 hose reels.

Firefighters are continuing to dowse the garden and are using a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.

1 appliance has returned to station.

Ashey Road remains closed whilst the incident is concluded.

UPDATE @ 13:52 – Ashey Road has now reopened to traffic and fire crews have left the scene.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
