FORENSIC OFFICERS SEARCH PROPERTY AFTER ‘VICIOUS ATTACK’

UPDATED: Police on the Isle of Wight are tonight (Monday) investigating what has been described as a ‘vicious attack’ on a man in Ryde.

Specialist forensic investigators are examining a basement flat address on Ashey Road following what is understood to be a serious assault, which has left a man with facial injuries.

At around 16:00 this afternoon Police were deployed in their numbers to the scene near the junction with Pitt Street. However, witnesses say that when Police and paramedics arrived the suspects nor the victim could be located.

Island Echo has been told that 2 men entered the property – 1 of them masked – before allegedly assaulting the occupant. The suspects fled and a short while later an injured man appeared from the property before getting into a car.

The extent of the man’s injuries is currently unknown, but it is thought he is receiving medical treatment in hospital.

UPDATE TUESDAY @ 11:00 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 20-year-old man has received treatment for a cut to his head, possibly caused by a blade.

According to the victim he was attacked on his own doorstep by 3 men he did not know. The men were wearing hooded tops and had their faces covered.

Police say enquiries are ongoing to locate the men involved.
