UPDATED: Specialist forensic investigators are conducting an examination of the property at the centre of yesterday’s armed Police incident in Sandown, where a handgun was recovered.
White suits have been donned and photographs are being taken at the semi-detached property on Downsview, off Perowne Way, where Police have remained throughout the night.
At least 5 Armed Officers surrounded the address yesterday afternoon before eventually moving in to make at least 1 arrest at just before 19:00. The heavily armed cops took up position in a child’s bedroom window and behind cars.
Witnesses have told Island Echo that 2 or 3 people were inside the residential property.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to comment on who has been arrested and why, but did say yesterday that they were responding to concerns for a man.
Downsview remains open to pedestrians and vehicles.
UPDATE @ 10:58 – Police have confirmed that a handgun was recovered during yesterday’s operation, in which 2 people were arrested.
A 44-year-old man from Godshill has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Meanwhile a 47-year-old woman from Sandown is being questioned on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug.
