DAMAGED CABLE LEADS TO POWER CUT IN SHANKLIN

UPDATED: Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are working to restore power to over 500 homes in Shanklin this afternoon (Wednesday).

A damaged cable on Landguard Manor Road has resulted in the loss of power to homes and businesses across the town.

Initially some 1,479 properties were effected by the power cut, but that number now sits at 537.

Engineers expect to have power restored to all customers by 16:30. The supply was cut at around 14:15.

UPDATE – Power has been successfully restored to all customers.
