Chichester-based jbA Architecture, one of the region’s leading architecture practices, is to expand its operations with the opening of a new satellite office in Newport on the Isle of Wight.

The expansion follows a period of increased demand for jbA’s high-end architectural designs and will enable the firm to better service clients on the Isle of Wight and Hampshire.

jbA’s Isle of Wight office is being headed up by Leah Shanahan, who already lives on the Island. A partner at the firm since 2015, Leah is a RIBA Chartered Architect specialising in the residential sector with particular expertise in coastal and listed properties. She has project managed a wide range of commissions from extensions to large master planning projects. Leah’s experience also extends to remote property management and over the years she has managed extensive second home projects for clients.

Leah comments:

“I am delighted to be spearheading this new venture for jbA. It is an exciting step for the firm and a fantastic opportunity to build on our existing strengths in a wider region. We look forward to undertaking more projects in this beautiful part of the world.”

Director of jbA, John Brown, commented:

“As a result of our growth in the Hampshire area and increased demand for specialist coastal properties, the Isle of Wight was the natural next strategic location for us. Leah’s local knowledge and existing connections make her the ideal candidate to lead the expansion.”
