RISE IN JSA CLAIMANTS

The amount of people claiming Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) on the Isle of Wight has risen once again. According to the Office for National Staitstics, 4110 people were claiming the benefit last month (February), a rise of some 130 people compared to January. That number is expected to drop in March as seasonal employers take on new recruits for 2013.

A yellow alert of rain for the Isle of Wight has been issued by the Met Office this morning (Tuesday). Persistent rain is expected from noon on Thursday, lasting until 17:00 on Friday. Residents are being warned of localised flooding likely with this amount of rain fall.
