UPDATED: A car has crashed into a brick wall on a residential street in Newport tonight (Saturday).

Police are in attendance at Hearn Street in the centre of the county town, where an Audi has left the road on a right hand corner.

The incident took place shortly before 21:00.

A garden wall has been destroyed and significant damage has been sustained to the vehicle.

It is thought the driver of the vehicle has left the scene, prompting a search in the area.

UPDATE SUNDAY @ 11:12 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a male – believed to be driver – was seen running from the scene of last night’s crash.

No arrests have been made so far.
