Rock Challenge events aim to inspire, engage and motivate young people to make healthy and positive lifestyle choices and from Wednesday 26th April Portsmouth Guildhall will be taken over by more than 3,000 students as they take on the most exciting challenge of the ‘Education Though Creation’ tour – the finals.
The Isle of Wight is represented across all 3 days of the senior events, with local schools involved in both the open and Premier finals.
This year 2 open finals will be taking place which will see Christ the King College perform on Thursday (27th April) and Medina College on Friday (28th April). They will be competing against schools from West Sussex, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Dorset and Northamptonshire.
Sandown Bay Academy and Ryde Academy will both be representing Hampshire in the Southern Premier Final. These schools, who previously showcased their performances in Portsmouth, will be hoping to take the title of Southern Premier Champions from last year’s winners, Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School on Saturday 29th April.
Supervising Event Manager, Sophia Campbell comments:
“The standard of performances this year have been incredible and we are set to have 4 extremely strong finals!
“It’s so rewarding to see how the hard work and dedication of all the students, staff, parents and local communities creates such great memories for the young people. Qualifying through to the final is such a great accomplishment in itself, every single school that has got here should be so proud, I can’t wait to see all the performances again!”
The teams have spent the last few weeks finalising their performances since their regional heat and will spend the day at the venue rehearsing, watching and supporting all the other schools before competing in a spectacular evening show.
The events begin at 18:30 and tickets for the finals are available from Portsmouth Guildhall Box Office on 0844 847 2362.
